Under Construction

The Vision

IronWorks has evolved from the developer Robert Stephens' unique vision and a very special parcel of land. Through the collaboration of public and private interests, IronWorks is a strategically planned expansion of downtown Mishawaka designed to provide a true lifestyle experience.

About the Project

The best way to describe the vision is as a city within a city. Here people can conveniently live, work, shop and play – all within a comfortable walking distance. What sets this project apart from other developments is the tract of land upon which it’s set – where the beautiful St. Joseph River is graced by natural forests, established parks and one of the most beautifully architected new parks in the Midwest, Beutter Park.

Previously referred to as the River Center, IronWorks of Mishawaka has been planned and designed as a quality mixed-use urban development. Located on the site of the former Uniroyal manufacturing facility, IronWorks of Mishawaka will be:

  • A delightful blend of traditional urban design that complements the character of the city and the river corridor around which it is centered.
  • An extension of the downtown with a choice lifestyle of convenience and community.
  • A community offering distinctive as well as diverse residential options within a ten-minute walk of shops, restaurants, existing schools, offices and parks.
  • A destination for people of all ages to play and socialize.
  • A source of community pride fostering economic development, new jobs, quality public spaces and tourism.
  • A standard in the Midwest for revitalized downtown, urban development and re-use of brownfield space.
